Smile, it's #SundayFunday! 😁 Did you know that turtles don't have teeth??
Even though it may appear at first glance that this smiling Burmese Roofed
Turtle has an impressive set of sharp chompers, that's just the serrations
of its beak, which of course act almost like teeth to help it chew its
food. Not much is known about the natural life of this exceptionally rare
turtle, thought to be extinct until it was rediscovered in the early 2000s.
Even though they are critically endangered and still facing many trials,
conservation efforts to combat its impending extinction have brought the
Burmese Roofed Turtle (Batagur trivittata) back from the brink! That's
something to smile about!
