This spectacular insect is the peacock katydid. While the top layers of the
creature resemble dead leaves for camouflage, the hidden hinges wings
reveal beautiful designs. These colorful patterns are revealed if
threatened, as they sprout two gigantic eyes that ward of any enemies.
Shimmering around the forests of South America, the katydids will feed on
the dead organic matter found around, acting as a detritvore.
