Despite appearances, it's not a horn, but a tooth!
The rush of the Narwhal grows out from the upper jaw, puncturing the lip,
and continues growing, making the Narwhal look like an oceanic unicorn!
Fascinatingly, Females rarely grow tusks, only about 15%of the time.
Further, one in every 500 males will grow two tusks.
To date, there has been only a single case of a double tusked female!
